What is IRC?

IRC is an abbreviation for Internet Relay Chat, a protocol on which a client/server type chat system is based. It was originally defined in the RFC 1459 in 1993.

CyberArmy has its own IRC network and channel at irc.cyberarmy.net. It serves as a meeting and discussion point for all members of CyberArmy, where arguments or discussions, but also just small talk, can be taken to relieve the forums a little. Joining is probably the easiest way to make friends in the CyberArmy as well as being the easiest way to find your spot in the CyberArmy Brigades (The channel #recruiting is always filled with C/O's offering various jobs).

Read the rules and join this part of our community. (NOTE: While these rules pertain primarily to #cyberarmy, other channels may use and/or modify them for their own purposes.)

Channel Rules

  • The channel is moderated by people that will take action to stop behaviour they deem as unacceptable.
  • If you are for some reason kicked or banned from the channel you should take it as a learning experience
  • A level of silly repartee amongst the channel members is considered normal, but if you feel you have been treated unfairly then you should speak to a channel operator with your complaint
  • If you're the kind of person that needs to read rules as to what is acceptable to guide your behaviour, simply observe the majority of the channel who are aware of what is and is not generally permitted
  • Have fun.
  • Expect to be rapidly kickbanned for any of the following:
    • Cloning
    • Ban evading
    • Vulgar language
    • Misplaced ASCII art
    • Excess color
    • Repeating and Scrolling
    • Flooding the channel or our users
    • Abusive tricks targeted at naive users
    • Spamming and Advertising
    • Begging for channel privileges

Last but not least, the golden rule: it's only IRC.
